Vintage oceanfront suite on a working farm · Billings Spit, Sooke BC
The Beachouse
Kaltasin sits at the water's edge on Billings Spit, the sandy finger of land where the Sooke River meets the sea. The beach is right outside the patio doors — a wide, walkable tideline where herons stalk the shallows and eagles work the river mouth.
Inside, the self-contained two-bedroom suite is beautifully renovated with an artistic mix of vintage and contemporary finds. Mornings start slow: coffee on the deck, the Basin flat as glass, the Sooke Hills still holding the last of the mist.
The Farmstay
This isn't a beach house pretending to be a farm — it's a genuine small holding, home to a busy flock of chickens whose morning chatter guests write home about. Fresh eggs come with the territory, and the gardens are part of the charm.
It's the rare kind of stay where the ocean and the barnyard share a fence line — fall asleep to the tide, wake up to the hens.

Explore Sooke
Sooke is where Vancouver Island starts to feel like the edge of the world — in the best way. Everything below is an easy trip from the front door.
Sandy, Walkable, Sheltered, Warm. The Spit wraps the mouth of the Sooke River — walk it at low tide and you'll share it mostly with herons.
Local, Friendly, Unhurried, Handy. Groceries, coffee, bakeries, and some very good fish and chips on the harbour.
Breezy, Flat, Scenic, Dog-happy. A natural breakwater walk with the Strait of Juan de Fuca on one side and the harbour on the other.
Emerald, Carved, Cool, Swimmable. Deep rock pools carved into the Sooke River canyon — the classic summer swim.
Rugged, Coastal, Wild, Vast. Fifty kilometres of trail along bluffs and beaches — the Coast Trail is a full-day stunner.
Historic, Harbourside, Lively, Close-enough. The provincial capital for a city day — then back to the quiet.

It's a working small holding farm... The guest house is spotless, and beautiful. The beach is right out front of the patio doors.
